I apologise for not dealing with this sooner.
I was (and still am) a bit confused by the due date for the final payment. The first letter I received (dated 1 May 2008, reference A08) said that no payments were required "as from" 1 June 2008. I have always believed that payments were due on the first business day of the month. 1 June 2008 was a Sunday.
A few days after receiving the letter, I phoned 0845 640 2000 to seek clarification and believe that I was informed that the payment made on 1 May 2008 was the last payment required and no further payments were necessary. Accordingly, I cancelled my standing order before 1 June.
However, we will not quibble over the niceties of interpretation, so I enclose a cheque for £2.58 and hope that everyone is happy.
