Thank you for your letter of 23 June 2008.
The plot thins.
I had missed the significance of the date of the last payment as being that due on
May 1 2008 since I knew that a payment had been debited to my account with
Alliance & Leicester as -
1MAY S-ORDER TO PRUDENTIAL 2.58
This is the same item as has appeared each month since time immemorial. I have
no idea why the credit has failed to reach you on this occasion.
The money had not returned to my account by June 26 so presumably is still rattling
around somewhere in the system.
As regards documentary evidence, I enclose a (partial) photocopy (which need not be returned) but will send the original if necessary.
