Thomas Brady was born in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire about 1864 to Mary McKerran and Bernard Brady.
1862 Thomas Brady was born at 9h30m p.m. on Monday, December 8 at Crofsford, Lesmahagow to Mary Brady m.s. His birth was registered No.321 at Bankhouse, Lesmahagow on December 10 by Bernard Brady, "his X mark", Father, Present.
[Wrong mother's surname - I'll have to find another source to confirm that this is the right birth.]
[Plenty of Bally~~~~~~ parishes in Co. Cavan but no Bally that I can find.]

Thomas and Philip made their marks, Annie and Ann signed.
The present church in Blackwood (Our Lady and St. John) dates from 1896 and includes Lesmahagow within the parish. The area was previously served from Larkhall (St. Mary's, 1872). I have seen a reference on-line to another marriage at the RC Chapel, Blackwood (also conducted by Fr. Gaule) in 1889 so there probably was some arrangement for services at Blackwood.
