The Family of Margaret Carty & John Tonner, 1919

John Tonner was born about 1887 to Margaret McQue ( - ) and Daniel Tonner, Pithead Worker ( - ).

Margaret Carty was born on Saturday, June 15, 1898 at Hawkwoodburn [about ½ mile south of Dykehead], Shotts to Ellen Reynolds (1877 - 1939) and Bernard Carty, Coal Miner (1875 - ).


1919 On Friday, January 31, John Tonner and Margaret Carty were married at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Fauldhouse after Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.4 at Fauldhouse on February 3.

John was a Bachelor, gave his age as 32, occupation Coal Miner and usual residence Shotts Road, Fauldhouse. His parents are recorded as Daniel Tonner, Pithead Checker and Margaret Tonner m.s. McQue (deceased).

Margaret was a Spinster, age 23, occupation Housekeeper and usual residence Braeside Terrace, Fauldhouse. Her parents are recorded as Bernard Carty, Coal Miner and Helen Carty m.s. Reynolds.

The celebrant was Fr John A Joyce [or Boyce], Clergyman and the witnesses were James McCarroll and Mary Carty.


The Family of Richard Carty & Jeanie Keatings, 1921

Richard Carty was born on Monday, April 10, 1899 at the Water Wheel, Dykehead, Shotts to Ellen Carty m.s. Rannalds [sic] (1877 - 1939) and Bernard Carty, Coal Miner (1875 - )

Jane Keatings was born about 1903 in Shotts Parish to Margaret Brannan (c1884 - ) and Garret Keatings, Coal Miner (1881 - ). [See Section KS-7-4 for family background.]


1921 On Friday, October 14, Richard Carty and Jeannie Keatings were married at the R.C.Church, Shotts [St. Patrick's] after Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.53 at Stane on October 17.

Richard was a Bachelor, age 22, occupation Coal Miner and usual residence 50 Braeside Terrace, Fauldhouse. His parents are recorded as Bernard Carty, Coal Miner and Ellen Carty m.s. Reynolds.

Jeannie was a Spinster, gave her age as 18 [she was 19 + 2 days], no occupation recorded and usual residence 27 Nithsdale Street, Shotts. Her parents are recorded as Garrett [sic] Keatings, Coal Miner and Margaret Keatings m.s. Brannan.

The celebrant was John McAllister and the witnesses were John Lafferty and Maggie Keatings [probably Jeannie's sister].
